A new approach was taken to develop a system architecture for integrating the fleet of power plants of Saudi Electric Company (SEC) into the scheme of power plants operating under an Energy Conversion Agreement (ECA) with the government-owned offtaker Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC). Switching from the classical on-premises solution with replica system at the offtaker as applied so far in independent power projects to a single, jointly used cloud-based settlement system offers the potential to reach a new level of digitalization with benefits in terms of flexibility, maintainability and transparency for this critical element in the transformation of the Saudi electricity market.
